Councillor Joins Police Patrol On Busiest Night Of The Year - Leeds East |

|
Chair of the Inner East Community Committee, Councillor Luke Farley (Lab), joined West Yorkshire Police on patrol for Bonfire Night (Wednesday 5th November 2025). Councillor Farley joined Inspector Richard Neeves, who is the senior officer covering East Leeds, and constables from West Yorkshire Police to learn more about the work of the police across the community committee area and improve his understanding of the challenges faced by officers in the area. Over the duration of the evening, the elected member witnessed some of the antisocial behaviour addressed by officers across the area, attended call outs to dangerous use of fireworks, and visited some of the diversionary activities funded by the committee. Throughout the night he visited East End Park, Saxton Gardens, Harehills, Halton Moor and Seacroft attending a number of incidents across the East Leeds area. Councillor Farley (Burmantofts and Richmond Hill) said: “The Inner East Community Committee funded a range of activities for young people over the Bonfire night period. It was really good to pop in to Richmond Hill Community Centre to see the work of the council’s youth service, as well as the brilliant efforts of Catch in Harehills.” Inspector Richard Neeves said: “We appreciated the opportunity to share an insight into our work with councillor Farley. As chair of the Inner East Community Committee, his role covers half of the East Leeds Police district and this involves close partnership working with myself and West Yorkshire Police. “We are pleased that the policing operation across Leeds for Bonfire Night was a success with no major incidents. This shows the importance of the planning and collaborative working which took place before the evening.”
